DIPLOMA IN YOUTH MINISTRY

 

The DIPLOMA IN YOUTH MINISTRY is aimed at those training for professional youth ministry who want in depth training to equip them for the long haul.

 


 

The Diploma in Youth Ministry can be gained by completing eight youth ministry papers offered directly by YouthTRAIN. Each paper consists of one 180 page workbooks full of practical information and reflection exercises along with an assignment for completion. (Note: The eight papers cover similar content to the eight Certificate in Youth Ministry papers but contain considerably more detail and more challenging assignment.) Students can enrol at any time and have a maximum of 12 weeks to complete each paper. More than one paper can be worked on at any one time. During their course of study students receive regular contact from the course writer who acts in a mentoring role as they apply what they learn.

COST: The full cost of each papers is NZ$100 If a student pays for all eight at once the total for all eight papers just $600. Postage is free within New Zealand and $7.50 per paper for overseas enrolments. Alternatively, you can forgo this cost if we email you the material. The cost of the additional four Advanced Diploma papers is again $100 each with the twelfth paper being a research paper and costing just $25 as there is no manual supplied. A student can enrol in all four papers at once for just $250.

Principles of Christian Leadership

 

Purpose:

To introduce basic concepts of Christian leadership as they relate to practical ministry experience.

Management and Ministry

 

Purpose:

To introduce basic concepts of Christian management as they relate to practical ministry experience.

Youth Ministry Design

 

Purpose:

To develop a youth ministry design that is appropriate  to a given setting.

Youth Ministry Programming

 

Purpose:

To examine effective programming strategies and ideas.

Adolescence

 

Purpose:

To create an understanding of the developmental and behavioural dynamics of adolescence.

Adolescent Pastoral Care

 

Purpose:

To create an understanding of effective pastoral care practice.

Youth Culture

 

Purpose:

To appreciate the cultural uniqueness of youth culture and identify strategies for appropriate and effective mission to young people.

Purpose:

To learn the dynamics and symptoms of common physiological and emotional adolescent problems and to develop pastoral care strategies.

Philosophy of Youth Ministry

 

Purpose:

To have students think theologically about youth ministry and develop these thoughts into a coherent and Biblical youth ministry philosophy.

  • Six frameworks for a youth ministry philosophy: theology, ecclesiology, adolescent development, youth culture, youth ministry history, sociology.
  • Four approaches to youth ministry: incarnational, missional, pastoral, congregational

Practice of Youth Ministry

 

Purpose:

To research one area of youth ministry practice and develop recommendations.

 

Content outline:

  • A topic is chosen and approved and research is conducted using interviews and writings
  • A set of guidelines for recommended practice is presented and justified
